The first game is over. We have a "winner".

After an exciting week of Assassins, we have a "winner". Jeff Roe gained 5 kills, though he was absent for a couple of days and was not discrete about his kills...So in a sense he loses. That's what I like to think. So.......yeah. I' d say good job, but I' d be lying.

A great first day.

Congrats to all of you who survived the first day. If you did not survive the first day...well, it happens. I hope everyone had fun today. Anyways, here are some awards for assassins who impressed me today.

Killing Spree-Tiffany Chen
  • Tiffany earned this award for killing two people within one passing period. She also earned the record for the most kills in one day. Congratulations, you earned this. Sadly, her killing spree was put to an end right before class started, which brings me to my next award.....

C-C-C-Combo Breaker-Luke Carson
  • Luke should be mentioned for bringing an end to Tiffany's killing spree, but I think he deserves another award.
Perfect Timing-Luke Carson
  • Not only did Luke kill two of his targets today minutes, if not seconds, before class started, but he did so while the target was in their class. Very impressive.

"Go do your research. I'll be here when you return."

Assassins Game Rules

General Rules
Below is a brief overview of the rules. Some of these points will be given grater detail further below.

  1. You may not kill during a grace period (be it a day or until lunch).

  2. Contact your moderator about every successful kill. Communication is key.

  3. If you die then you are out of the game. The dead do not speak.

  4. No harm should come to your target.

  5. No truces/alliances. You may not have someone else kill your target.

  6. Keep the game fun by not telling people who your target is. Though, you may ask around if you do not know your person, but do so at your own risk.

Points

Every game has a point system, right? Every assassination you make you receive one point. That should be simple enough. On the west valley blog spot, you may see your stats and compare yourself to other people. Being killed does not count against you point-wise.

Assassinations

General

  • Kills on school grounds during school hours. Game time goes from when you enter the building to when the bell rings(2:15).

  • You may not 'assassinate' a target in a safe zone.

Methods

Below are the following methods to take care of your target

Method:Spoon

  • Weapon Type: Direct/Melee

  • Capacity: 1 (all you need)

  • Description: A white plastic spoon that you can obtain from the commons at lunch. If you are new, it is advised that you get them during the grace day.

  • Assassination: To 'kill' your target with this weapon you must stab the person in the back. Don't stab so hard that it causes physical harm to the player. A sucsessful stab is one that is done from behind(180 degree radius) without your target noticing.

  • Counter: If you catch your person in the act and manage to say "You're assassination attempt has failed" or "You are disarmed" before they can stab you then their attempt has failed. This only works if their 'weapon' is visible.

Method: Poison

  • Weapon Type: Indirect/Delayed

  • Capacity: 1 per attempt.

  • Description: A simple piece of paper w/ "You have been poisoned" written on it.

  • Assassination: Attach this piece of paper to a food/drink container. If your target eats or drinks from this container he/she is poisoned.

  • Counter: If your target manages to discover the poisoned paper and removes it from the container before the target eats/drinks from the container it is considered a failed attempt.

Failed attempts

If your target counters your assassination attempt then you must wait 1 hour before making another attempt. You may still be assassinated during this time. Since your target now knows of your identity, it will be more difficult to make a successful assassination. Buona fortuna.

Safe Zones

There are certain areas where we assassins are not allowed to strike, out of honor. Also, some of these areas are likely to attract school authorities. Do we really want that?

  • An instructional area during an instructional period.

  • The bathroom.

  • The Front Office or the Counselors Office.

Expected Behavior

It is important that players familiarize themselves thoroughly with this section. Breaking the rules of conduct may lead the being put on the wanted list, or disqualification. They may also lead to trouble with the authorities. If someone does breaches a rule, the moderator is a liberty to effect what he believes the likely result had the rule been obeyed.

Exercise common sense at all times. Players are responsible for their behavior. West Valley Assassins does not condone any course of action that would result in confrontation with people in authority. Avoid inconveniencing others, especially the general public.

This game depends on honesty and fair play. Please inform the moderator of of anything assassin related that occurs to you, especially if you have been killed. Anyone knowingly giving false or misleading information to the Moderator will face severe penalties.

You must expect other players to have nefarious intentions at any time during the game. Do not involve (or cause to become involved) School or other non-players to eject or intimidate those attempting to 'kill' you or others. If you believe that someone is behaving unreasonably, contact the moderator.

This is not a game about physical strength or violence. There is no excuse what so ever for pushing people around or forcing them our of your way.

Also, is a player is in obvious distress for a reason unrelated to the fact that you are trying to 'kill' them, or they are dealing with someone else in distress, do not take advantage of this situation.

You are perfectly at liberty to deny that you are an Assassin. However, you are not allowed to claim that you are a Dead Assassin and hence harmless. You may not lie about the vital status of of other Assassins who are immediately present.

Most of all, remember that this is just a game. Do your best, but have fun.

Consequences
I will not take kindly to rule breakers. This game is meant to be fun and if you are ruining the game for others then we have a problem. There are two ways I can deal with rule breakers.

  • The moderator personally assassinates you, thus kicking you from the game. No kill point is given.

  • Some other punishment that is up to the moderator.

The Moderator

The current moderator is Marx Smith and can be contacted privately at assassinsgamemod@gmail.com. You may also contact me in person at school if you have any questions. I do not provide protection, if you are talking to me and are stabbed while doing so then you are dead; Unless I says otherwise.

"I see you have questions. Please, feel free to ask."

Assassins Game F.A.Q.

What is Assassins?

Assassins is a stealth based game where you are given a target that you have to “assassinate”. This is a school game which means that you don't really kill them. You pretend to kill them using one of the methods listed in the Rules section. Be careful though, you are also being hunted as well. Do you think you can come out on top as a Master Assassin?

Do the West Valley Staff know about this game?

They are aware that this game exists. They have safety concerned about it, but the moderator has convinced them that this game will be played safely. Please do not prove the moderator wrong. It is heavily recommended that you make all assassination attempts discretely. If you draw attention to a staff member, please be mature about it. We want this game to have a good standing with the the staff at West Valley.

How do I join?

See the “How do I get started” post.

What is a grace period?

During a grace period assassination attempts are not allowed to be made. The first day of every game is a grace day. This is so that the moderator can assign contracts. Grace periods may be extended if the moderator cannot deliver all contracts within the given time. The moderator may call grace periods at anytime during a game.

How/When/Where do I receive my assassination contract?

Every player receives their contract from the game moderator on the first day of every game. This is usually a Monday. The moderator will give out specific instructions for when you will specifically receive your contract.

May I assassinate my target using a different method than listed in the rules?

Only the assassination methods listed in the rules may be used during the game.

What do you mean “An instructional area during an instructional period.”?

No direct assassinations may be made during class periods. When I say direct assassinations, spoon assassinations may not be used. If you poison your target and the poison takes affect during the class period, then the kill is considered good. Refer to the rules section for how poison works.

What if I catch my assassin and he/she continues his/her assassination attempt?

If you successfully countered his assassination attempt then your assassin has failed his attempt and must wait one hour to make another attempt.

What are the parameters a food/beverage container that I must poison?

The container must make contain the food or beverage that the target is to ingest. A lunch box for example cannot be poisoned. A Pringles jar or water bottle may be poisoned since it makes direct contact with the food or beverage.

"Ezio my friend. How may I be of service?"

This site is brand new and will undergo several changes over the weekend. I will be editing the rules. New rules will be posted as "Rules (version#)". New rules take place during a new game. Each game will state which rule set it will follow and each updated rule set will list major changes.
